What’s the best web tool of 2009? It came into your work flow this year and now you couldn’t live without it. It has simplified or improved your online experience.
Without a doubt, I would be even more of a mad woman if not for TweetDeck. I was introduced to Twitter in 2008 and immediately fell in love with all that 140 character goodness. But I quickly discovered I needed more flexibility, access and organization. I started using TweetDeck at the very onset of this year, and it has definitely simplified and improved my online experience. I’ve been responsible for as many as four different Twitter handles – business and personal – through much of this year. Not to mention the number of people I’ve been following and corresponding with for each. Without TweetDeck’s many columns through which to filter the dialogue, I’d be completely Looney Tunes.
TweetDeck allows me to group the folks I follow into categories according to any theme or whimsy I choose. It allows me to create search columns for mention of a person, place, word, or phrase. It allows me to see my direct messages, mentions, and incoming tweets simultaneously. Why would I ever go to the Twitter homepage again?
If you’re not using it, I highly recommend giving it a gander. I guarantee you’ll thank your stars. Or me. Whichever.
And to the folks at TweetDeck… thank you!

/ December 24, 2009Hmmm…several of you have recommended TweetDeck. I’m using HootSuite. Know of any major differences?

/ December 27, 2009I did Tweetdeck for a bit, but pretty quickly moved on to Seesmic. Am now considering Hootsuite. Then I give it a bit more thought and say ‘who gives a shit’ to myself. Ahhh…such is social media

/ December 28, 2009Kat: I simply haven’t felt the urge to move on. I’m completely content with TweetDeck. But I can completely relate to the “who gives a shit” moments. I have them upon occasion too.
