I am a hypocrite.
Yesterday, I had a wee ranting session about the toxin nature of gossip in the work place.
Today, I spent half an hour critiquing American Idol – past and present contestants, the lengths of Paula Abdul’s eyelashes, the doughy physiques of various old rockers - with my office mates.
And it was the most engaging conversation I’ve had with these folks in all the (two) months I’ve been here.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Perhaps I am only a few episodes of reality television away from sniffing glue or buying a can of aerosol spray.
Advice?

/ May 27, 2010we’re all hypocrites, my dear…we’re human! it doesn’t make you any less of who you are. sometimes we just vent about the mindless stuff so we can get to the good stuff. it’s when we over-do it that it becomes icky.
as for advice, i’ll say: give yourself a break. and maybe give the gossip girls a break too…
**now i’ll have to go check out that gossip rant of yours ;o)

/ May 27, 2010Dian: Thanks, lady! The moment just highlighted for my both my previous moment of judgement and, perhaps, my loneliness in an environment in which I wasn’t engaged. Good, light lessons I catch every once in a while.

/ May 30, 2010Oh, this is delightful! Makes me think of Whitman’s lines (which I love, love, love): “Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.”
We’re all ever-so-internally large! Hurrah! And aren’t you so — brave AND delightful — to tell on yourself. I’m grinning from ear to ear, you make me smile!!
