It’s been a while since I’ve been able to look back on a month and find a few pleasurable things to highlight. In fact, March is the last time I visited this theme. Damn! I’m thrilled to jump back into the habit of pausing for a moment to reflect on the previous few weeks and find the bright spots. Here’s what I have to share this month…
- Reuniting with my brother and mom. While the circumstances around the reunion were sad – my grandfather passed away, it was really wonderful to spend even 24 hours with them. My mom lives halfway across the country. My brother lives on the opposite coast. I miss them.
- Full-time employment. Yes, folks, I have a new, full-time job – Yipp-fucking-ee! It’s been years since I worked a forty hour week for someone else, and got paid for it. I’ve only been at my new job for a week, but I’m absolutely loving it.
- Reality television. Not all of it, just So You Think You Can Dance. I’m addicted. I find it completely inspiring. I danced when I was younger. I loved it. I haven’t danced in years, and I never danced as well as these kids do, but watching them is pure pleasure.
So, those are a few moments of joy from the last 30 days of my life. How did your June unfold?

After 9 years of dance lessons and being told at 12 that “You should probably consider playing basketball”, I am a total SYTYCD freak. Wait – you have the potential to go see it live, don’t you? Jealous.

/ July 1, 2009June was good for us. School finished for the year and my job always slows down at the end of the academic year, so we have a lot more family time.
As for me, I got a new bike and have been loving it, plus I’ve been successful with my weight loss efforts and feel great!

Kate: I’ve never thought about it. Sometimes I get blase about the access I have, living here. I’ll have to check into it. Tell me, who do you want to win this season? It’s sooo addictive!
Jen: Yippee for the new bike, and everything else that is going well. May the good karma continue for all of us!

/ July 2, 2009Emma,
Glad to hear things are going better. June was good for me with lots of travel with family and time with friends. The lifting of a black cloud that had overshadowed my life as of late. I’m looking forward to an even better July. I wish you the same.

/ July 5, 2009Left the job I love after 12 years. Said ‘goodbye’ to some amazing kids that I think are still trying to process what this will mean for them next year (I’m doing the same thing). Felt excited about what September could bring (besides more time for me!).
