Some months are chock full of fantastic events, others are full of challenges, but there is always at least one thing for which to be grateful. I swear it’s true, even for months like March. Usually, in fact, I realize upon reflection that even those months which I would initially, and justifiably, categorize as challenging end up being pretty fucking amazing, if only for the fact that the sky hasn’t fallen, the sun keeps showing up and all my parts appear still to be in working order. That being said, however, the most pleasurable thing about this past month for me is so obvious as to require no deep thoughts and is so wonderful as to usurp the need to highlight anything else.
- Visiting my niece in Beantown. She is, without a doubt, the most brilliant, beautiful, charming, inquisitive, insightful and loving 16-month-old on the planet. She can say my name now, which has the odd effect of making me giddy with pride and awe. She is completely fearless. She spends 90 percent of her time laughing in pleasure, and the other 10 percent of her time emphatically and endearingly saying “no.” She has the power to increase the size of anyone’s heart by at least an inch, with just a glance. I am completely wrapped around her finger. And I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

my nephew is the love of my life. he’s 2 and SO frickin’ cute. my sister send me a video link (they’re in florida visiting my parents for a month) and he’s counting to 11 in the video. sooooo cute. can’t stand it. and a bonus–he looks like ME! it’s like having a kid without all the work.
