Pleasure Finds Friday: Lotus Chandelier

Lotus Flower Chandelier

Lotus Flower Chandelier

Smile. Sigh. Grin. Impulsively clap my hands in glee. Yep. I fell in love with this Lotus Flower Chandelier the moment I saw it. Made of capiz shell edged in metal, and available in two different sizes, I think it transforms any room – well, maybe not a closet – into an elegant pleasure dome.

A bit of education here. Capiz shell is the outer layer shell of a marine mollusk found in the Philippines. It’s translucent properties are perfect for light fixtures. See, you do learn something new every single day.

Do you think it’s too much to pair it with the Bouquet Chair? I think not.

I am beginning to wonder, however, about the significance of my love for fluffy-looking, round, white things with floral motifs. Was I perhaps a cotton ball used to dust off rose petals in a former life? That might have been weird. This lamp certainly is not.

The only drawback to owning a beautiful light source like this, that I can envision, is the inevitable neck pain from staring up at the ceiling all day long. What do you think?

Price Category (based on my budget): Luxury. Found at Graham & Green or Viva Terra.

  1. stun.stun.stunnnning! love it and it would play so nicely with my beach-themed house. i live a stone’s toss (or at least a quick bike ride) from the ocean and love all things beachy!!! you have a serious eye for design.

nat @ book, line, and sinker’s last blog post..Review (and Giveaway!): Perfect Fifths

  2. i LOVE this. gorgeous! get it. for me, my only concern would be all the places for dust to land, but that’s because i should clean more than i do. ha.

molly’s last blog post..all is right with me.

  3. Nat: Thanks for the compliment. I sincerely appreciate your thumbs up. And I’m sooo jealous that you live so close to the beach. Sounds wonderful!

Molly: LOL. I thought exactly the same thing, but then I realized when I get around to being able to afford this little baby, I’ll be able to afford to have someone else clean it. Does that sound awful? Someone really needs to invent a machine that sucks the dust out of the air so it never collects on anything. Can you imagine?!

  4. I always get a bit giddy when I find myself in a store with fun light fixtures. One day… one day.

  5. Really gorgeous! If you’re worried about your neck just hang it over the bed. Then you just need to worry about how to fall asleep with your eyes open so you can keep looking at it.

calimama @ compactbydesign’s last blog post..have you been washed?

  6. Victoria: I have an entire file of things for one day. :)

CM: That is a brilliant idea. Except then I’d be stressed that it would fall on me in the middle of the night. In Feng Shui, you aren’t supposed to hang things over the bed cause it breaks of the chi or something, and that makes sense to me.
